We left out of Seattle (the space needle is in
the background). Rod in the lounge just before
departure.

I thought I would get some exercise - but that
didn't last long. It was "COLD" and "WINDY".
I know - I should have expected that - afterall
it is on our way to Alaska.

So we did some indoor exercise - We had Samba
lessons. yeah - I really did talk Rod into that!

Our first formal night!

This in JUNEAU! Lots of RAIN! Deann and Mike
met us at the ship terminal, brought rain gear for
us and we had our own personal guided tour (hike)
of the Meddenhall Glacier. It was so beautiful, but
according to Deann, this glacier is receeding at an
incredible speed. How sad. I am sure glad we got
to see it.

A little soggy, but it was a great day!

After the hike in the pouring rain, we took the
tram to the top. You can see our little ship - way
down there.

Rod always wanted to be part of a totem.
This was at the top of the mountain.

Coming back down the tram - ready to go back t0
our ship and get some dry clothes and of course
some food!
SKAGWAY - we first took a tour of the little
mining town and waded through the shops.
Then we boarded our train to take us on a
gorgeous tour of the Alaska gold miners trails.
The views were spectacular!

My new coat- purchased in Juneau!
Wore it first in Skagway!

Headed back to the ship. The ship actually
came in a very narrow channel - mountains
on both sides of the waterway!
The fjord -blue glacier ice.
We got up at 6am to see the sunrise
on the glacier.

That evening at dinner.

And after dinner - a show at the Theatre.

The Midnight buffet - for chocoholics!
It isn't hard for me to resist.
Last day - Butchart Gardens

Rubbing the boar nose is supposed
to bring luck. Good try, Rod!

There is always a place to spend money. I just
didn't have enough time to thoroughly look.

Day 7 - Victoria B.C. - Butchart Gardens was so beautiful! It started out as a very ugly limestone quarry. Mrs Butchart decided she would plant some trees and flowers to hide the view of the quarry from her house and then every year she added more. When the quarry no longer was worked, it was turned into acres of beautiful gardens. We really enjoyed our day. I wish we could have stayed longer.

"Day 7" Our last night at sea! Dinner with our Alaska sailing friends: seated, Chris and , from Pittsburg; Adrienne and Savanah from Cabo; (standing our three waiters) then Mary Kay and Steve from Spokane and the Joy and Rod. They were a fun group. We had the late evening dinner time, but it worked out great because we had a beautiful sunset every night -between 9 & 10 every night.

Every night our cabin boy had a new surprise waiting for us - tonoght it is a cobra.

After our excursion into Victoria, we came back to our ship. This was the best view of the ship!
Rod saying 'good-bye' to Victoria
Headed back to Seattle..... but I am not ready
to go back to the real world!
